Waupaca, WI 715-258-2088   The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 6, at 11
AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Community in
Waupaca with Father Brian Belongia, officiating.
Burial will be later in the spring at Rural
Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday evening from
4 to 8 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca and
also on Sat. morning from 10 AM until the time of
mass at the church. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial
fund has been established in Lois's name.

Lois J. Sorenson, age 71, of Waupaca, WI, passed
away unexpectedly after a long battle with cancer
on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Riverside Medical
Center. Lois was born in Green Bay, WI on May 15,
1938, the daughter of Frank and Velma (Rhode)
Merkatoris. On August 30, 1958, Lois married
Eugene L. Sorenson (Butch) in Green Bay. Lois and
Butch owned and operated the Crystal River Inn Bed
& Breakfast in Rural for many years. Prior to
that she worked in the Wisconsin University
system. She was very active in the Waupaca Area
Chamber of Commerce and was one of the founding
members of Strawberry Fest in Waupaca. She loved
camping, especially in Door County and was a
faithful member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic
Community in Waupaca. Lois is survived by her
husband: Eugene Sorenson, Waupaca, WI; her
children: Mark (Nancy) Sorenson, Seymour, WI; M.J.
Sorenson, New York City, NY; Stephen (Dulcie)
Sorenson, Hilo, Hawaii; Barb (Peter) Metzig,
Waupaca, WI and Sonja (Mike) Nellis, Waupaca, WI;
her 11 Grandchildren: Nicholas, Alexandria,
Emily, Ariel, Sam, Zachary, Lizzie, Hannah,
Eleanor, Rohdey & Maggie. Also surviving is her
sister: Marion (Larry) Pinchard, Green Bay, WI and
her brother: Chuck (Nancy) Merkatoris, Green Bay,
WI. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March
