Archie "Lucky" Lyste

Archie “Lucky” Lyste, age 95 of Madison, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at King Veterans Home in King, WI, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. He was born on September 20, 1926 in Chetek, WI, the son of John and Clarisse (Nelson) Lyste. On September 28, 1957, He married Delma Peterson in Mt. Horeb, WI. Archie enlisted in the US Army in 1945, during World War II and reenlisted in US Air Force and served in both Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1970. Archie loved to read books, watch movies, listen to county music and work with ceramics. Survivors include his sons, Robert (Karen) Lyste of Big Falls, WI, John (Linda) Lyste of DeForest, WI and Michael (Christina Reinke) Lyste of Cottage Grove, WI; his daughter, Barbara (Jamey Hollfelder) Lyste of Waupaca, WI; grandchildren, Jamie Lynne (Chad) Gamer of DeForest, WI, Angela (Nate Steinberg) Bartle of Madison, WI, Drake Christenson of Oshkosh, WI; great grandchildren, Haydn Gamer, Lola Steinberg, Addison and Alyvia Lyste. Besides his parents and wife, Delma, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher John “CJ” Lyste and his granddaughter, Amanda Lyste. Archie will be laid to rest on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens in Madison, WI. with full military honors.
