So sorry to hear of John's passing. Just now learning of it. He was a dear family friend, and neighbor, and my father (Ken Pinkerton) worked with John at Filter Materials for many years. He was a real asset to the community, and a really wonderful guy! Rest in peace, John.
John’s delightful personality and adventurous spirit will always be life-giving memories for me. My thoughts and prayers were with each of you throughout this day as you prayed for John and buried him. Our sisters also included him in their prayers. What a profoundly positive impact Mr. Gusmer had on our family. The decision he made to hire my father on as the plant manager back in the late 1960's. Our family of 13 benefited mightily from all that is good about Waupaca because he decided that my Dad was the man for the job. And.. he wasn't a bad volleyball player to boot.
Mr. Gusmer was such a lively, fun, and on the go man . I never saw him sit still. Our sympathies to Ted, Dottie, Chris and families. He was such a positive person in our community. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family.
Remembering my cousin John so warmly! He was at both my son's weddings in Detroit and was the life of the party - dancing with all the ladies and enjoying every moment. Sending love to Dottie, Ted and Chris and your families; I will be thinking of you as you celebrate your father's life this weekend.

John hired me at Filter Materials in 1985, at a point in my life where my former employer of 17 years has just gone out of business. This was a virtual life saver for me and set me on a positive track for the rest of my working life. I am forever in debt to him for this. Rest in peace, John.
