Alexander B. Ostrowski's Obituary
Alex B. Ostrowski - Amherst, WI - age 77, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI. He was born on June 6, 1937 in the Township of New Hope, Portage County, WI, the son of Charles M. and Theresa (Golomski) Ostrowski. He married Betty Rickman on June 18, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia.
Alex is survived by his wife, Betty, a son: Daniel Alan (Debbie) Ostrowski of Wisconsin Rapids, three daughters: Debra (David) Saltzman of Wisconsin Rapids, Darlene (Paul) Konkol of Wisconsin Rapids, and Denise (Anthony, Jr) Makuski of Stevens Point, grandchildren: Karl (Nicole) Luedtke and their son: Reece, Alex Ostrowski (Fiancée: Tracy Knoll), Jason Luedtke (Fiancée: Amanda Nutter), Elizabeth Ostrowski, Rashawanna Ostrowski, Luke Saltzman, Craig Konkol, Shelby Makuski, and Aaron Makuski, sisters: Carol (Joe) Rosmarynowski, Mary Ann Ostrowski, Gertrude Szews, and Shirley (Richard) Glossmeyer, and brothers: Hubert Ostrowski, Norbert (Irene) Ostrowski, Leonard (Christine) Ostrowski, and Gerrard Ostrowski. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Margaret and Cecelia, an infant sister: Josephine, and brothers: William and Dennis.
Alex was as a carpenter/millwright with Local 408 - Stevens Point, working for Consolidated Construction in Wisconsin Rapids for 25 years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Amherst and had served on the church council. Alex had been a Cub Scout Master and Boy Scout Master with Troop 296 - Amherst for many years. While living in the Milwaukee area he served in the National Guard. Some of his interests included hunting, fishing, growing flowers, and gardening. He was well known for making tin men out of recycled cans. He also enjoyed camping and spending time at their property on Moon Lake in Iola. A family tradition he loved was the yearly family vacation spent at Nicolet Shores near Phelps. He truly loved family times and he adored his grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, WI, with Father Jude Dioka, Celebrant. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the St. James Catholic Cemetery in Amherst. The Jungers - Holly Funeral Home of Amherst, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
