ALFRED OSTROWSKI
KING, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF MESA, ARIZONA
Age 87, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born December 14, 1926 in Stevens Point, WI; son of Louis and Susanna (Helminiak) Ostrowski. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from March 23, 1945 – October 5, 1946. On September 25, 1948, Alfred married Doris Clark in Stevens Point, WI. Al was an avid sports enthusiast and was a proud member of the Die Hard Cubs Fan Club. He served as President of the Linotype Operators union and also represented the newspapers Writers Guild. Al will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and friends.
Al is survived by his wife: Doris Ostrowski of King, WI; eight children: Katherine Wendt of La Crosse, WI, James Ostrowski of Houston, TX, Donald Ostrowski of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Mary Merfeld of Kenosha, WI, Jack Ostrowski of Crowne Pointe, IN, Robert Ostrowski of Naples, FL, Joan Beutler of Palestine, TX, and Charles Ostrowski of Los Angeles, CA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother: Maurice Ostrowski of Oak Forest, IL; and two sisters: Eleanor Hoerter of Stevens Point, WI and Marge Schaaf of Alexandria, VA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Susanna Ostrowski; one brother; and one sister.
A Graveside Service with full military honors will take place at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI at a later date in the spring. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
