ALICE M. CAIRNS
KING, WISCONSIN Alice Cairns, 78, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Riverside Medical Center, Waupaca. She was born on Apr. 13, 1932, in Lake Geneva, to the late Ernest and Alice J. (Voss) Niles. She graduated from Lake Geneva High School in the class of 1950. She attended Madison Business School and was employed as a bookkeeper for Capitol Welding, and as office manager for Engineering Industries. On April 28, 1951, Alice married Gordon (Gordy) Cairns and they lived in Madison for many years. They later moved to Woodruff where they operated Cairns and Cairns Yarn Shop until 2003. In 2004 they moved to the Wisconsin Veterans Home, in King, where Gordy passed away on May 14, 2004. Alice was an avid knitter, making many sweaters and other items for her family and friends. Alice is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Jody and Bob Palzer of Ashland, Ore., Jackie and Ed Chester of Canaan, Vt., and Pamela and Ziya Agim of Arlington, Va. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Bonnie Palzer and Eren Agim; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Vincent Love; a niece; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce. At her request, there will be no memorial services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
