Allen R. Peterson's Obituary
Mr. Allen R Peterson, age 68, of Amherst, passed away Saturday, August 19th, 2006 at his residence. Allen was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin, on April 30, 1938. He was the son of the late Harold W and Arla Belle (Hebard) Peterson and attended grade schools in Waupaca and graduated from high school in Amherst. On August 15, 1959, he married Sonja (Olson) Peterson in Amherst. Allen served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He was stationed on the USS General William Mitchell in Seattle and also on the Bikini Atolls island with the Atomic Energy Task Group. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. Allen worked road construction for F F Mengel. He was a milk hauler for Bordens Dairy and was a field representative for Dairy Farmers of America. Al served on the Amherst Fair Board, Amherst Village Board, Peace Lutheran Church Board, was a member of the Amherst Boots & Saddle Club, Little Britches Rodeo of Wisconsin, Ltd. and Golden Sands Harness Club. Allen enjoyed horses, fishing, rodeo, visiting, bowling, auctioneering, helping his sons farm and spending time with family and friends. Allen performed benefit auctions for: Ducks Unlimited, FFA Workers, Market Animal Sale, Turkey Foundation and Little Wolf River Houndsmans Club. He is survived by wife, Sonja Peterson, Amherst; son, Scott (Ann) Peterson, Amherst and grandchildren, Katie, Patrick, & Paul Peterson; son, Todd (Buckly) Peterson, Amherst and grandchildren, Sammie, Melzy & Jessie Peterson; daughter, Cheryl Bloczynski, Stevens Point and grandchildren, Taylor & Chad Bloczynski; daughter, Susan (Randy) Bembenek, Lannon, and grandchildren, Aaron Foss & Justine Bembenek; son, Dale (Shaina) Peterson, Amherst, and grandchildren, Ty, Mason & Hailey Peterson; sister, Carol (David) Redman, Waupaca; brother, Dennis (Kay) Peterson, Iola; brother-in-law, Bill (Sue) Olson, Amherst; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Norman) Mortenson, Iola; and Rob (Dale) Louison, Iola. Allen is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Arla Belle Peterson; father & mother-in-law, Wilhelm & Alta Olson; son-in-law, Michael Bloczynski; brother-in-law, Gordon Anderson; niece, Sarah Louison and nephew, Todd Louison. Funeral Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 22nd, with Reverend Dwight Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery Town of Amherst, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held Monday 4-8 P.M. at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst and on Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church.
