Amy Oare's Obituary
AMY ROSELYN OARE
WAUPACA, WI Age 84 – went peacefully to her Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2005, following a brief illness. She was born on July 14, 1921, in Chicago, IL, the third of four children born to John and Amy Thonander. She moved at about age 14, to Excelsior, MN, where she finished high school and met the love of her life, Otto I. Oare. They were married on August 2, 1940, in Minnewashta, MN, and enjoyed 52 years together. Otto preceded her in death on January 10, 1992. When Otto and Amy retired they moved to Waupaca and became very active in community and church activities. Amy was very active in the altar guild and her circle at Trinity Lutheran Church. She also volunteered thousands of hours at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI and Waupaca Area Food Bank until declining health forced her to retire from those activities. Amy moved to the Angelus Retirement Community in 2003 and remained there until her death. She will be greatly missed by her many friends there, both residents and staff, and she will be remembered for her unfailing kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Amy is survived by her four children: Eleanor (James) Peterson of Scandinavia, WI, John (Ardelle) Oare of Pine City, MN, Susan (Rudy) Henninger of Los Alamos, NM, and Paul Oare of Spring Park, MN, seven grandchildren: Sarah Peterson of Amherst, WI, Jennifer Peterson of St. Louis Park, MN, Theodore (Nichole) Peterson of Crystal, MN, Maria Oare of Rush City, MN, Jason Oare of Rush City, MN, Amy Henninger (Andre Leger) of Portland, OR, and Rebecca (Seth) Littleton of Los Alamos, NM. She is also survived by five great grandchildren. Amy was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, her parents, her sister, Eleanor, and two brothers, John and Edgar. A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, and at the church on Thursday morning, one hour prior to the time of the funeral service. A memorial has been established in Amy’s name. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
