Anna M. Syke's Obituary
Anna Syke, 49, of Pine River, WI, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Anna’s family invites friends to stop by Leonard Funeral Home, 2595 Rockdale Road in Dubuque, Iowa between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 to share hugs and relive memories.
Anna was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on April 30, 1975, the daughter of Thomas Syke and Judy Schadler Syke and grew up in Menominee, Illinois, on the cherished family farm. Her childhood was filled with joy, exploring the creek and nurturing the many animals and pets she loved so much.
A graduate of East Dubuque High School, Anna earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to complete a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Anna began her career as a school counselor, where her natural ability to nurture and guide others shone brightly. She later transitioned to private practice, establishing and running her own counseling business in central Wisconsin. She was deeply dedicated to her clients, providing compassionate care and helping countless individuals navigate life’s challenges.
Anna had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found hiking, kayaking, or simply basking in nature’s beauty. Her vibrant personality could light up any room, and she was known for her storytelling and infectious laughter that brought joy to all who knew her.
Anna is survived by her best friend, Chad Casper; her parents, Tom and Judy Syke; her sisters, Cheryl Syke (Brian Poirier) and Stacy Syke (Rebecca); and her eight beloved nieces and nephews: Caleb, Evan, Brendan, Aidan, Kate, Olivia, Kaia, and Paxton. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Bernita Syke, and Milton and Margaret Behnke Schadler.
