Anna Thorn's Obituary
Anna Louise Thorn, 75, of Scandinavia, WI passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Anna was born in St. Lawrence, WI on March 8, 1935, to the late Lester and Palma (Engebretson) Olson. She graduated from Scandinavia High School class of 1952. Anna was married to Ruben Thorn on April 17, 1954. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved watching the birds and squirrels, spending time with family and friends, playing cards, baking, cooking, fishing, planting her flowers in the summers and puzzles. She was the quiet coordinator of family gatherings for holidays and birthdays. Anna worked at both Anthony Potato Farms and Faldet Farms . Anna is survived by two sons, Bruce Thorn, Scandinavia, WI and Daniel (Janet) Thorn, Mooresville, NC, her daughter, Teckla (Dave) Whittaker, Scandinavia, WI; nine grandchildren, Amanda Falkowski, Kevin (Jill) Thorn, Matt (Tina) Larsen, Becky (Adi ) Gaber, Tabitha (Zach) Klatt, Tom (Michelle) Falkowski, Jackie Larsen, Kari (Eric) Gay, Tony Thorn; great-grandchildren: Alex, Evan, Marylin, Landen, Hayden, Eden, Ethan, Lillian & Willow; brothers-in-law: Gaylord Lewison Springfield, IL and Tom Thorn, Iola, WI; a sister-in-law: Jeanette Olsen, Scandinavia, WI and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Her husband Ruben Thorn, Parents, Sisters Hildegard and Ruthie and Brother Carlyle, preceded Anna in death. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Scandinavia Lutheran Church 105 Church St, Scandinavia, WI at 11:00am with Pastor Mark Sabin officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the Church prior to the service from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements. Anna's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone for their care and support of Anna during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Scandinavia Lutheran Church would be appreciated. A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you, and were helped by you, will remember you when forget-me-nots are withered. Carve your name on hearts, and not on marble. ~ Unknown
