Arlene G. Domaszek Koehl, 85, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024 at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Facility surrounded by her family.
Arlene was born on March 14, 1939, in the town of Stockton to Antone and Barbara (Glodowski) Shulfer. She graduated from Amherst High School, later marrying James Domaszek on June 7, 1958. They ran their family farm and raised five daughters together. In the 38 years Jim and Arlene were married, they treasured making memories with family and friends, camping at Franklin Lake, playing cards, bowling, and dancing. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, golfing, and cooking meals for her family.
Arlene held many jobs including Amherst Town Clerk and Town Treasurer for over 22 years, and worked at the Amherst Junction post office. She was the organist for St. James Parish for over 32 years combining her Godly faith with her musical talent. Arlene also developed music programs and was an officer of the Altar Society at church.
After her husband James passed away in 1996, Arlene married Dr. James Koehl in 2007. They spent many years together living on Lake Emily, attending Badger and USWP games, and following the sports and activities of her grandchildren.
Arlene is lovingly survived by her five daughters: Ruth (Kevin) Zelhofer, Waupaca, Sandra (Steven) Trzebiatowski, Amherst Junction, Julie (Anthony) Metzler, Pardeeville, Mary (Jamie) Jastromski, Stevens Point, and Kim (Jason) Kindler, Stevens Point. She is further survived by her ten grandchildren, Marissa (Nathan) Juedes, Ashlee Trzebiatowski, Eric (fiancé Shannon De La Rosa) and Nicole Zelhofer, Connor and Grayson Metzler, Sydney and Payton Jastromski, and Carson and Chloe Kindler; great-grandchildren Finlee, John Mark, Walker, and Luka Juedes; and sisters-in-law Hazel Shulfer and Bernadine Domaszek.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband James Domaszek, her husband James Koehl, her parents Anton and Barbara Shulfer, her parents-in-law Raymond and Martha Domaszek, her brothers Gregory, Richard, Leonard, Donald, and Leroy Shulfer, her sisters-in-law Dorothy, Lorraine, Delphine, and Grace Shulfer, and her brothers-in-law Robert and Eugene Domaszek, and a sister-in-law, Wanda Domaszek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7 at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, followed by the burial in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Arlene’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. James Catholic Church.
