Arthur N. Formiller's Obituary
Arthur N. Formiller, age 89, of Wisconsin Veterans Home formally of Spring Green passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Veterans Home. Art was born in Winneconne, WI on December 1, 1919, the son of the late Peter P. and Mary L. (Dusenske) Formiller. As a young boy, he worked on the family dairy farm. He attended school in Green Lake and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He served in the Army Air Corps as a military policeman during WW II, honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He worked as a sheet metal worker, truck driver, bartender, farm equipment salesman, and factory worker, describing himself as a jack of all trades, master of none. Returning to law enforcement, he served as police chief of Green Lake (1960-1966) and Spring Green (1969-1979) and finished his career with Wackenhut Security in Daytona Beach, Florida. On November 26, 1953, Art married Helen Washbush in Fond du Lac and she preceded him in death in Feb. 1975. Art is survived by his sons: Peter(Ann) Formiller of Madison and Arthur Formiller of Appleton; 2 Granddaughters: Anna Formiller and Mary Formiller; a sister: Mildred King of Green Lake, WI and a brother: Edward Formiller of Sioux Falls, SD. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome and Del. A Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10:30 AM at the Wisconsin Veterans Home-Main Chapel in King, WI with Father Paul Vanden Hogan, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in the spring in the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Main Chapel.
