Arvid R. Brathovde, Sr.
Amherst, WI Age 92 – died on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at his residence. He was born on October 25, 1916 in Amherst, WI, the son of Oliver and Signe Brathovde. He married Rosemary Bartonich on December 17, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1992. Arvid is survived by a son; Arvid Brathovde, Jr of Stevens Point, and daughters; Evelyn Sakshaug of Winneconne, and Rosalie Gressick of Crestwood, IL. He is also survived by grandchildren, a sister; Evelyn Bell of Wausau, nieces, and a close family friend; Bonnie Orheim of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his wife; Rosemary, a son; John Brathovde, and a brother; Tony Brathovde. Arvid had been employed as a machinist for the former A.O. Smith Co. in Milwaukee for 27 years. He had been a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. A funeral service will be held at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, WI on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend John Schmidt, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst. A visitation will be held at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home on Monday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
