August *Gus* Pagel's Obituary
August Gus K. Pagel, age 81, of Wild Rose, WI, passed away Sunday, March 25th, 2007 at Berlin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Fond du Lac, WI on July 31, 1925, the son of August J. and Myrtle (Schwanz) Pagel. August served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He attended Fond du Lac Public Schools. August graduated from Tulane University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He married Dorothy Trumm on September 30, 1950, they later divorced. August married Rosemary L. Bohart on August 18, 1984 in Wautoma. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2006. He was the director of Waushara County Human Services starting on May 1, 1956 and retiring in January of 1989. August was also a past member of the Wautoma Memorial Community Hospital Board, Wild Rose Village Board, and the Wautoma Rotary. He is survived by Children: Michael (Lara) Pagel, Amherst, WI; Karen (Fred) Thornton, Sun Prairie, WI;Stepdaughter: Charlene (Robert) Freeman, Cape Girardeau, MO; Grandchildren: Katherine (fiance, Troy Brueckner) Thornton, Madison, WI; Andrew Lakas, Waukesha, WI; Alyssa & Kristin Pagel, Amherst, WI; Brother: Wilfred (Helen) Pagel, Fond du Lac, WI. August is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rosemary, and a stepson, William Bohart. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose assisted the family. The family wishes to thank Rosemor Village for the care and attention given to Gus.
