AUGUST “AUGIE” W. KOLB
WAUPACA, WISCONSIN Age 88, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 19, 1921 in Dundas, MN; son of Frank and Anna (Gates) Kolb. On August 9, 1945, Augie married Evelyn Wilson in West Allis, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army, 28th Division, during WWII from September 28, 1942 – September 15, 1945. Before moving to Waupaca, he was a fireman for the West Allis Fire Department. Augie and Evelyn owned and operated Augie’s Supermarket in Waupaca for over 22 years. Augie is survived by:
Daugher: Cheryl (Gary) Prell of Waupaca, WI
Son: Douglas Kolb of Waupaca, WI
Two Grandsons: Corey (Sally) Prell of Menomonee Falls, WI
Shawn Prell (Amber) of Waupaca, WI
Four Great-Grandchildren: Ellie, Max, Gus (August, named after great-grandpa), & Landri He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Kolb; his wife, Evelyn Kolb; four brothers, Leo, Mirrel, Frank, and Rufus Kolb; and four sisters, Irene Leslie, Alice Conrad, Doris Weber, and Betty Frey. A Private Family Graveside Service will be at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
