Avis Irene Kienert's Obituary
Avis I. Kienert - age 86 - of Waupaca, WI passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI. She was born on December 31, 1928 in the Township of Helvetia, Waupaca County, WI, the daughter of P. Arthur and Ada (Parmenter) Rasmussen. She married LaVerne H. Kienert on October 25, 1947 in Waupaca.
Avis is survived by her husband: LaVerne, daughters: Karen (Michael) Gierczak of Green Bay, Kathleen (James) Corrigan of Waupaca, Sandra (Richard) Lashua of Iola, Cynthia (John) Smith of Libertyville, IL, Jacqueline (Eric) Spindt of Waupaca, son: Timothy (Yvette) Kienert of Waupaca, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sisters-in-law: Carolyn (John) Smith of Waupaca, and Maxine (Dennis) Kienert-Degodt of Weirsdale, FL and Waupaca, along with many nieces and nephews. Avis was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law: Ted Andrews, a brother and sister-in-law: William and Fern Rasmussen, a sister and brother-in-law: Elizabeth and Fred Preuss, and a brother-in-law: Richard Kienert.
Avis was a long time member of the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Waupaca and had served with the Ladies Aide for many years. She and LaVerne had owned and operated both the Rosa Theater in Waupaca and the former Highway 10 Outdoor Theater in Waupaca for 18 years. Avis always loved the times she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI with the Reverend Paul Bowe, officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Interment will be in the Lind Center Cemetery. A memorial has been established in the name of Avis I. Kienert. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
