Barbara Adamski's Obituary
Barbara A. Adamski was granted eternal, peaceful rest on January 18 in her home after over two years of on-going illness. She was born November 3, 1932 to Jerome and Gertrude (Ciseski) Werachowski in Stevens Point, WI. Barb attended P.J. Jacobs High School graduating in 1950. She married Carl J. Adamski on May 26, 1951 at St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel, Fancher WI. She worked as a head cook at the Portage County Health Center for 13 years while earning a certificate in the Food Service Supervisor Program from Mid-State Technical College. Thereafter she was an associate clerk at Creative Touch in Plover retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel Rosary Society and the Arnott Women’s Lions Club for many years. The most important aspect of Barbara’s life was the love and nurturing for her family including her husband, her seven children, eleven grand-children and five great-grandchildren. Barb was an avid reader who created countless knitted and crocheted heirlooms for others. She was an amazing cook and baker. Other interests included gardening, watching the Brewers and the Packers and bird watching. Survivors include her husband, Carl J. Adamski; her sons: Gerald Adamski, Custer, Kenneth (Jackie) Adamski, Polonia, Christopher (Cristy) Adamski, Amherst, her daughters: Cynthia (James) Borski, Stevens Point, Lori (Peter) Barsness, Onalaska; her grandchildren: Marilee Adamski Smith (Joseph), Lindsey Adamski, Andrew (Sarah) Firkus, Valerie Lutz, Amanda Borski, Kendra Borski, Abby Adamski, Alex Adamski, Brandon Barsness, Erik Barsness and Riley Adamski, great-grandchildren: Jonathon and Adam Lutz, Hunter and Mason Firkus, and Avery Adamski. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald (Ruth) Werachowski, Stevens Point. She is preceded in death by her son, Mark Adamski, her daughter, Gail Yauck, her daughter-in-law, Darlene Adamski and nephew, Michael Werachowksi.
Barb led by example teaching all of us how to live a self-less life of caring for others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Father Jude Dioka will officiate with burial to follow at the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday January 21, 2014 from 4 – 7 P.M. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst with a Rosary service at 7 P.M. and again at the church on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the mass. The family would like to thank the many people who embraced us and helped us through mom’s illness including Father Jude Dioka, grand-daughter Val for daycare services, Sammie Meddaugh, Recover Health homecare services, Dr. Andrew Beaumont, Wausau Aspirus Surgery, the nursing staff at Riverview Cancer Center, Wisconsin Rapids, the pharmaceutical team at Shopko Pharmacy, Plover and colleagues and students at LHS.
