Barbara Strause (nee: McNeice), age 83, of Wild Rose, formerly of Mequon, found peace on November 25, 2012. She passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Loving wife of Sterling, beloved mother of Charlie (Jayne), Tom (Linda), Jim (Tammie), and Mary (John) Dangler, and proud grandma of Nick, Stephanie, Jared, and Lauren. Further survived by her sister; Sheila Behrens, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson; Samuel Strause, and her parents; Francis and Lillian (Rowan) McNeice. Barbara spent many years volunteering her time and talents with the Girl Scouts of America empowering young women. In her later years she volunteered at the Wild Rose Library. A lover of nature and a steward of the environment, Barbara especially enjoyed gardening and had a talent for turning an empty space into a beautiful oasis. She enjoyed her retirement years traveling the U.S. and the world with family and friends, poolside as a winter Texan in Port Aransas, TX, and spending time with her children and grandchildren on Wilson Lake. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 364 S. Cambridge St., Wautoma, WI on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Father Robert Stegmann, Celebrant. A visitation will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the mass at the Saxeville Union Cemetery in Saxeville, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Girl Scouts of America in memory of Barbara Strause.
