Basil Folan Jr.'s Obituary
Rev. Basil Folan, OP, age 85, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home, formerly of Plainfield, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Veterans Home. Brother Basil was born in Maywood, Illinois on May 11, 1923, the son of the late James L and Katherine M Folan. He was a former member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Plainfield. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. After the service, he entered the Dominican Order of the Priesthood at St. Rose Priory in Dubuque, Iowa. He then went to St. Pius Catholic Church in Chicago until returning to Plainfield. Brother Basil is survived by his nieces & nephews: Pat (Bud) Leary of Almond; Kay (Paul) Hoffmann of Hinsdale, IL; Dan (Diane) Folan of Almond; Dave (Michelle) Folan of Waupaca; Madeline (Victor) Dermott of Yorkville, IL and Mary (Peter) Tabaka of New Carlisle, IN. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phil and a sister, Madeline. Funeral Mass will be on Sat. Sept. 13 at 2 PM at the Main Chapel, King, WI with Father Paul Vanden Hogen, officiating. Interment will be in the St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1 to 2 PM at the Main Chapel. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
