Ben E. Jorgensen
Waupaca, WI Age 84 – went to meet his Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2008. He was born on July 2, 1923 in the Twp. of Springwater, Waushara County, WI, son of the late George and Delia (Evans) Jorgensen. He married Margie A. Telfer on April 6, 1946 at the Farmington Lutheran Church in Sheridan. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2006. Ben is survived by three daughters; Vicki (Dennis) Girard of Waupaca, Wendy (Emil) Peterson of Waupaca, and Tami (Benny) Frisella of Loves Park, IL, a son; Terry (Adela) Jorgensen of Waupaca, grandchildren; Travis (Katie) Jorgensen, Rob May, James Girard, Christie Girard, Abby (Randy) Miller, Tony (Heather) Peterson, Patrick Peterson, Paul Peterson (Special Friend: Molly Olson), Nicholas Frisella, and Amanda Peterson, great grandchildren; Lauren Jorgensen, Collin Jorgensen, Alexander Hicks, Makaela Hicks, Klayton Riehl, and Cooper Miller, step-grandchildren; Jeremy (Andrea) Hicks, Jamie Hicks, Sherise Swain, Alisa Laudicina, and Diana Sheedy and their families. Ben is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; Margie, son; David, step-grandson; Benny Frisella, his parents, sister; Marjorie Hansen, and four brothers; Everett, James, Walter, and G. Lloyd Jorgensen. Ben graduated from Waupaca High School in 1941. Ben had been employed with various businesses in the Waupaca area. He then went to work for the Curtiss Breeding Service and worked with the company for 31 years, ending his time with them as a vice-president of sales. He then worked for other breeding service companies as a general sales manager until his eventual retirement. He had also been a member of a number of state and national cattle associations related to his work. Following his retirement Ben drove for Neuville Motors. Ben was a founding member of the Shepherd of The Lakes Lutheran Church of Waupaca in 1967 and had been very active in the church. He had served on the church council, and was president several times. He had also served on the property committee and building committee. Ben was a member of the Wandering Shepherds and also responsible for getting an A.A.L. Chapter (Thrivent) started at the church. Ben always enjoyed greeting visitors, new members, and being an usher. He was an avid fan and proud supporter of the Waupaca Comets. Ben had also been very active around the Waupaca community, serving on the Waupaca County Board and City Council. He had been on the building committees for the current Courthouse, Library, and City Hall. Ben had also been a member of the American Legion Post #161 of King, WI, the Waupaca Nomads, and Simpson’s 10 o’clock coffee club. A funeral service will be held at the Shepherd of The Lakes Lutheran Church in Waupaca on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Dean Wheeler and Rev. David Martin, officiating, assisted by Rev. Fred Lueders. Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Park Cemetery in Waupaca. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, and at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Shepherd of The Lakes Lutheran Church in memory of Ben Jorgensen. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. Right up to the end Ben enjoyed a good cigar, and a Friday night meal at Simpson’s. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Ben would want everyone to: Have a good day and a great tomorrow!
