Benjamin Hirte's Obituary
Benjamin C Hirte, age 74, of Waupaca, WI, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 21st, 2005 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Weyauwega, WI, on July 13, 1931, the son of F. William and Ona (Quade) Hirte. Ben graduated from Weyauwega High School in 1949. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 to 1953. On June 26, 1954, he married Kathryn Rowland at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Ben was employed at Kreem-line Dairy, Waupaca Foundry and Wisconsin Veterans Home, retiring in 1995 after 30 years. Following retirement, Ben enjoyed working at Bethany Home as a transportation driver. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ben was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed bowling, dart ball and playing sheepshead. Ben was also a devoted Green Bay Packer and Braves fan. Ben enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren at his cottage on Taylor Lake. He is survived by Wife: Kathryn Hirte, Waupaca, WI; Children: David (Nancy) Hirte; Lana (Richard) Wood; Sheri (Dale) Hines; Joni (Timothy) Suhs; Marcia (Tracy) Johnson all of Waupaca, WI; Paul (Patty) Hirte, Kaukauna, WI; Grandchildren: Michael (Melanie), Erin & Kari Hirte; Benjamin, Megan & Jacob Wood; Mara & Mathew (Molly) Hines; Todd & Tori Suhs; Carl, Craig, & Marcus Johnson and Chad & Kathryn Hirte. Sisters: Cecile Hirte, Weyauwega, WI; Iris Rogers, Waupun, WI; Brother: Duane (Karrie) Hirte, Shawano, WI. He is further survived by: Sisters-in-law, Norma (Stan) Bergum, Rice Lake, WI and Shirley (Dennis) Borndale, St. Paul, MN. Benjamin is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; Brother-in-law, Clifford Rogers; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law, Delano and Patricia Rowland and twin infant grandsons. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2005 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca with the Reverend Sean Motley and Reverend Fred Lueders officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca. A visitation will be held 4:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca and on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Ben's name.
