Bert O. Shanklin's Obituary
Bert O. Shanklin, age 101, of Waupaca, WI, formerly of Scandinavia, WI, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Bethany Home. He was born in Town of Amherst, WI on August 10,1923, the son of the late Charles and Lydia (Schrader) Shanklin. He married Lois Wiese on December 28,1945 in the Town of Edgar, WI. Bert was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. Bert was an auto mechanic in Amherst and Iola. He farmed in the town of Scandinavia for many years.
Bert is survived by his Children Diane Grasee of Two Rivers, WI, Keith Shanklin of Weyauwega, WI, Gary Shanklin of Fremont, WI and Michael (Janet) Shanklin of Redgranite, WI; Grandchildren Christine (Brian) Weichart of Brown Deer, WI, Dana (Mark) Arneman of Manitowoc, WI, Lisa (Cass) Shimanek of Two Rivers, WI, Eric Grasee of Two Rivers, WI, Kody Shanklin of Weyauwega, WI and Lexi Shanklin of Wautoma, WI; Twelve Great Grandchildren; Brothers-in-Law James Wiese of Sheridan, IL, and David (Lois) Wiese of Appleton, WI; Sister-in-Law Carol Mattei of Lake Delton, WI, many other relatives and friends.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lydia Shanklin; his wife Lois Shanklin; sister Priscilla Scholl; brother Harold Shanklin; granddaughter Somantha Shanklin and son-in-law Mike Grasee.
A Funeral Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 2pm. A visitation will be held on Thursday March 6, 2025 from 12:30 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm at the church. Reverend Dwight Anderson will officiate, with burial to follow in the Lower Amherst Cemetery. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
