Bill T. Romundson's Obituary
Bill T. Romundson age 73, died at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital from complications of Parkinson disease on Saturday January 17, 2015. Bill was born in the Town of New Hope on October 1, 1941, the son of Nick and Eldora (Sasse) Romundson. Bill married Carol Janz on August 4, 1973.
Bill graduated from Amherst High School in 1955 and graduated from U.W. Platteville in 1963 with B.S. degree in Agriculture Education. He also worked on his Masters Degree in swine nutrition at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was an agriculture, shop and biology teacher at Fairchild, WI in 1963. After working on his Masters, he went back to teaching agriculture and Industrial Arts at Rosholt High School as well as FFA Advisor for seven years. Bill also sold seed corn for Ranks Seed corn Company and he sold steel buildings for various companies in addition to farming. He raised feeder pigs, butcher hogs, beef cattle and milked cows until 2008. For several years he also drove school bus for the Amherst School District. He was involved with many community organizations such as the 4-H Club, as a member and then leader for over 25 years. In the early 1980’s Portage County Extension formed a market animal judging team. Bill worked with Portage county teenagers helping them to judge quality beef, sheep, and swine. One of his proudest accomplishments was taking the 1990 Portage County Judging Team to the US National Judging Competition in Kansas City, Missouri. Bill enjoyed reading, watching television, playing cribbage, traveling with Carol and friends throughout many states, driving his red truck and his bus routes, and especially visiting with friends and neighbors.
Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years Carol Romundson of Nelsonville, WI one brother John (Ramona) Romundson, one sister Dorothy Hazelbaker, two nephews Donald Romundson and Mark Hazelbaker, four nieces Diana Mahlberg, Debbie Hazelbaker, Judy Christianson and Barb Erickson, and other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 24, 2015 at 11 A.M. at the Nelsonville Lutheran Church in Nelsonville, WI. Pastor Dwight Anderson will officiate with burial to follow in the Nelsonville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Amherst FFA or the Amherst Fair.
