michael and Mary Sirianni lit a candle in memory of Bradley Scheel

I met Brad about 14 yrs ago training. I gravitated to him and appreciated his wisdom on not just training but religion. He took time to " push " me closer to orthodoxy. My favorite memory of this was, he sent me info on an event in Chicago. A visiting Abbott from California, verbally pointed me out. I was lone catholic sitting, straight up and full attention. In 2015 & 2017, I worked in Sitka Alaska and visited Bishop House of Saint Innocent. I told Brad and sent pics of the prayer room and the 200yr old artifacts. Brad was definitely a fun guy and great mentor and great friend. He will definitely be missed. His family and loved ones were definitely blessed having him around.
My sincere condolences to Chris, and Brads whole Family, on the passing of Brad. Brad and I met back in the middle 1960's, as we both attended a military academy, a virtual prison for bad kiddies. Brad and I hit it off for our Love of cars, motorcycles, music, and the TV shows of the day. Brad's favorite was "Man from Uncle", and in particular, Ilya Kuryakin the Russian martial arts guy in the TV series...and this was in 1966. In reconnecting with Brad in 2004 or so, via phone, he told me that he was a Russian Martial Arts Instructor...go figure! I am happy that Brad found his dream and followed it. There are very few of us that are able to take our dreams, and make them into realities. Brad and I were close friends at the military academy, sharing our likes and dislikes, while sitting at a table in the garage where the 3/4 midget racers were. Sometimes sitting in them and dreaming of blasting out of the academy and onto better things. In 2003 I started researching the academy and trying to find former cadets, and wound up finding Brad. He and I had many conversations by phone, and text, yet it took till 2010 to actually finally meet up. Brad told me that he was going to go to a Russian Martial Arts convention in Phoenix, Arizona. Since Brad was never able to join us in California for my many acadeny alumni gatherings and bbq's up at the old academy grounds once every year or two, and at my house, and since I lived in the San Diego enclave of Coronado, California, about 360 miles away. I decided that I should take that trip, so I did. Getting into Phoenix and finding the hotel, I parked and went into the convention room to find Brad. On finding him, we decided to go get some food and hang out.n Within about 5 minutes of leaving that convention room, I got terribly sick, very lightheaded, stomach cramps and the works. Not wanting to give Brad what I had, I cut the meeting that we were looking forward to for so long, and got in my car and drove home. I don't know how I made it, because I was dreary and super sick the whole way home. Brad called a number of times to make sure that I was ok and I called him when I got home. I was out for three days! On to better things, Brad and I continued to communicate via phone and text, nearly right up to the end. Last I spoke with Brad was in the later November/early Dec. I sent him a text on December 1st, not knowing, but feeling that it might be the end when I received no reply. I will miss Brad. I am going to go from here and post up on my academy group page and website, and share Brad's obit with the rest of our alumni. I am adding a photo of Brad as a young cadet (he signed his photo, and also wrote in my yearbook).
Yes, hot spicy cooking from Bradley!
