Brandon "Butch" J. Somers' Obituary
Brandon J. “Butch” Somers, 49, Town of Stockton passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, from an aggressive cancer.
Brandon was born September 6, 1974, in Stevens Point, WI to Marv & Kathy (Dombrowski) Somers. He worked for several companies in the area, most recently at KI Mobility. Brandon’s second job was donating his time to various organizations throughout the community and surrounding areas. His involvement landed him the 2014 title, “Person of the Year” in the Amherst area. He was a proud board member of the Tomorrow River Valley Conservation Club where he was involved in the hunter safety program for nearly 30 years and a certified instructor for 19 years. In addition, he belonged to the Royal Order Moose #1572, for 27 years, where he held several positions including Governor. He took great pride in delivering Thanksgiving meals to those in need and enjoyed annual trips to Moose Heart to deliver a truck load of potatoes to the orphans. His generosity encouraged him to host his 40th birthday party raising over $1,000.00 for the Tomorrow River VFW Memorial. Butch also belonged to several other organizations where he volunteered his time and was known for always having a raffle ticket to sell.
Butch was a 1992 graduate of Amherst High School and an avid Falcon fan. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and was often found cheering on his nephews at various sporting events. His love for Wisconsin sports included the Badgers, Packers, and especially his beloved Brewers. He also enjoyed golf outings, hunting up at the cabin with family, and his annual “Nordberg” fishing trip with buddies.
Brandon is survived by his parents, his siblings Sheila (Ryan) Hetzel, Kelly (Chad) Trzebiatowski, & Nate (Shelly) Somers. He was a proud uncle to nephews Mason Hetzel, Colby Trzebiatowski, Easton Somers and favorite niece Kira Somers. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Maynard & Eleanor Somers, maternal grandparents, Ernest & Dorothy Dombrowski, & godparents Jerome & MaryAnn Serafin and other close relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-7 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church-Fancher, Amherst, WI. Rosary Service will be held at 7 PM with the Moose Ritual to follow the Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church-Fancher. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, October 19th from 9 AM until time of service at the Church. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his name. To know Butch was to love him as he met friends wherever he went. Per his request he would like to keep his funeral casual and ask that you wear your favorite sports apparel or “Butchie’s Benefit” shirt. The family wishes to thank the Aspirus Medical Staff and Oncology Unit for the excellence in care & compassion shown to Brandon during his treatments and hospital stays.
