Bryan Day Olson's Obituary
Bryan Day Olson, 64, of Waupaca passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2022, surrounded by his two daughters, Amber and Cassy Olson, in Weyauwega. Bryan was born October 21st, 1957 in Waupaca, WI to Carlyle and Gertrude (Behm) Olson. Bryan, also known as "fat man" to his friends, grew up in Waupaca, a town he loved and never left. Bryan would talk of his younger days, his rebellious behavior and the friends he made along the way. Bryan had a great love for food, which started early in his life while working at the Waupaca Cafe with his parents and siblings. Bryan then went on to work at Hillshire Farms as a meat worker. He then began a career in installing overhead doors and working on a local farm for a good friend, "M.O" where he often brought his daughters along. He later met Sandra Peterson who he married in 1985, together they had two children, Amber and Cassy. Bryan continued his career in maintenance in 1990 at Weyauwega Healthcare Center (now Crossroads). Bryan enjoyed working outdoors, tending to his garden, bowling, swimming, spending time with friends and family and of course a cold PBR. He was always willing to offer a hand wherever he could. Bryan also enjoyed a good thunderstorm, pulling up lawn chairs and enjoying the storm from inside the garage of his beloved farm house. Bryan spent the last year and a half of his life under the care of the Crossroads Care Center team in Weyauwega. The staff exclaim how polite, tidy, intelligent and funny he was, offering wisdom whenever he could. Bryan would speak highly of his children and boast at their achievements. He will be dearly missed by all that had the pleasure to know and love him in that short time.
Bryan will be sadly missed by his children: Cassy Olson (Adam Fronczak) and Amber Olson (Brody Fischer); brother: Tom (Linda) Olson; brother-in- law: Rick Sweetalla and 2 grandchildren: Hailey and Skylar; nieces and nephews; and always remembered by those he touched in his life along the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jeff Olson and Roxy Sweetalla; and longtime special friend Deborah Sorenson.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 25, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Pastor Erin Coutts will officiate, with burial to follow at Lakeside Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 25, 2022 from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca.
Bryan was famous for insightful phrases, and had one for just about every situation. In closing, and said best by Bryan, "keep the faith my friend. Be good to people and people be good to you, and that's all they need to know."
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Thedacare Hospice team for the care and support Bryan and his family received in the last weeks of his life. He is gone, but never forgotten.
