To Dave's family and many friends -

I could not have summed up my thoughts of Dave and his family better than those of Jody Loberg-Lehman and Harry Deets. Everything Jody said about Dave and his family was the same I experienced, right down to those two stories! (I think Jody had left our Waupaca Co family prior to the other big life events of Jamie and Jenny so I know a lot of things about Alaska (and fishing boats!).

It is with a heavy heart that I am thinking of Dave, and his family and friends, from northern Wisconsin rather than with my Waupaca family. But I will always smile and laugh when I remember Dave. God speed my friend and mentor -you showed the rest of us how to live life to the fullest......Mary Anich Daniels

Memories of Dave…
Dave was my very first boss. He took a chance on me way back 1991 and I have been grateful to him ever since. He became my mentor and friend and to most of the CPS unit, our “Work Dad”. Dave was a Master Story Teller and one always knew to keep an excuse at the ready when Dave got on the subject of his children. If you couldn’t fake a crisis, you were in for a long tale and he was in perfect company with an entire crew of Social Workers all trained best at listening. After 15 years, I could still tell you every detail of the day Jenny negotiated to advance a year in school or the time that Jamie was jumping on the bed with popcorn. Dave had a larger than life presence and made everything so much more fun. His ability to infuse humor into the difficulties of our jobs truly made one of the most cohesive, effective and longest lasting CPS teams in the history of Waupaca County. I think of him often and the lessons I have learned from him. He will always have a special place in my heart. Jody Loberg-Lehman

I worked with Dave at Waupaca County DHHS for many years. He was definitely one of the good guys. I am sorry to hear of his death. My condolences to his family. I know Dave was always so proud of his two children and loved to give updates on how they were doing. He was a big guy, but had a heart of gold. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Dave's family and friends. Dave was a great athlete and a generous person. It was great to see him at the CCHS Class of '64 fiftieth reunion laughing and enjoying the company of old friends.
