Cameron E. Mentzel's Obituary
Cameron Eric Mentzel, age 30 of Pine River, WI passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2025. Cameron was born in Waupaca, WI on February 21, 1995 to Jennifer Grimm-Schwirtz and Shane Mentzel. From a young age, he had a bright smile and a big heart. He was the kind of person who showed up when it mattered, always the first to lend a hand, whether it was fixing a vehicle, tackling a project or simply being there for a loved one. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 2013. He began working at the Waupaca Foundry at age 18 and dedicated to his work there throughout his adult life. Cameron had a deep love for music, especially country classics and for traveling, both of which he loved to share with friends and family. He especially loved learning and working with his hands. He found joy in the garage under the hood of a car. His friendships were strong and lasting and he was fiercely loyal to those he cared about. His best friends, Jacob Spindler, Joey Vasquez and Jordan Anunson were like brothers to him. More than anything, Cameron loved his family. He had a special bond with his nephews and niece, Peyton, Connor and Hannah. They always brought a light to his eyes.
Cameron is survived by his mother Jennifer Grimm-Schwirtz, father Shane (Jen) Mentzel, brother Corey Mentzel, sisters Stephanie (Nathan) Gerard, Elizabeth Mentzel, Morgan Mentzel, grandparents David and Kim Mentzel, nephews Peyton Tankersley, Connor Tankersley, Odin Mentzel, niece Hannah Gerard and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jeanne Tarr and Gary Grimm, cousin Reuben Hales and step-father Brad Schwirtz. Cameron’s loss leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him. His kindness, laughter and loyalty will never be forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at Holly's.
