CARL F. DOUGHTY
ROSHOLT, WISCONSIN Age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born May 18, 1919 in the Town of Carson near Miladore, Portage Co., WI; son of Frank and Millie (Hetze) Doughty. After moving to Stevens Point from their farm, Carl attended McKinley Grade School and P.J. Jacobs High School. He played high school football and graduated in 1939. After high school, Carl worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then went on to work for the Milwaukee Road in Morrisonville and Duplainville, WI. On March 17, 1941, Carl married Ruby Shurley in Dubuque, IA. Together they raised four children, Dennis, Kenneth, Melody, and Sherilynne. Carl and Ruby moved to Milwaukee and Carl worked for Cuttler-Hammer and Milwaukee Road for a short time. He entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and served during WWII. Carl returned from the war to work for the Milwaukee Road Railroad until 1957 when he started his own business called Doughty’s Asphalt Spraying, a water-proofing business. Carl and Ruby moved to Rosholt, WI in 1979 after his retirement. They shared 53 years of marriage before Ruby’s passing on March 13, 1994. Carl was an avid bowler, horseshoe thrower, woodworker, and traveler. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren who visited him often on Penny Lake where he lived. Carl also loved sharing his time with his four-legged companions, his dogs, Punky and Tinker. He will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and friends. Carl is survived by:

17 Great-Grandchildren: Kathy and Katie Yanke; Nicole and Jack Vanderboom; Sabrina Scarce, Billy Scarce, Nicholas Born-Scarce, Angel Scarce, Kayden Scarce, Samantha Torres, Terianna Kennedy, Haley and Celia Gironimi; Jensen, Jadyn, and Callen Mollet; and Baby Ahtonen to be born in April.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Millie Doughty; his wife, Ruby Doughty; a son, Ken Doughty; a great-grandson, Brayden Scarce; three brothers, Fred, Harold, and Ben Doughty; and three sisters, Mabel Hamilton, Charlotte Lepak, and Viola Hopfensperger. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt, WI. Reverend Michael Peuse will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery in Rosholt. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Carl F. Doughty. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements. JUNGERS-HOLLY FUNERAL HOME
