Carl A. Groskreutz's Obituary
Carl August Groskreutz, born on March 4, 1950, to Gaylord and Adele Groskreutz of rural Wautoma, grew up on the family farm in Dakota Township. He was baptized on March 19,1950 and confirmed on May 17, 1964 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wautoma.
Carl attended Wautoma High School before serving in the United States Navy as an officer’s cook aboard the USS Ticonderoga.
In 1978, Carl married Sally Taylor, with whom he had one daughter, Mandy. Later, in 1986, he married Lois Bohn.
Carl spent his career as an over-the-road semi-truck driver before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing cards, mowing Dave and Vicki’s lawn and sipping his morning coffee while visiting with friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Adele Groskreutz, his brother, John and his sister-in-law, Diane.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; his sisters Jean Groskreutz Zuelke (DuWayne); Carol Groskreutz Acker (Lee) and lots of nieces and nephews. His daughter, Mandy Groskreutz; stepchildren, Vicki Bohn Poeschl (David) and Daniel Bohn (Theresa). His grandchildren Zacharia Groskreutz, Makia Groskreutz and Cheyenniah Groskreutz. He was fond of Dave’s family - David, Erin, Samantha and Christopher Poeschl and Michael, Amber, Ellie and Bode Poeschl. Carl accepted his step grandchildren as his own. They include Jessica Bohn Herriges (Alex); Megan Bohn Matteson (Chris) and Michael Schultz. Carl had a special smile on his face when he was with the great grandchildren, including the Herriges family: Bram, Audra, Sloane, Felicity, Helena, and Kolbe, as well as the Matteson grandchildren: Nora and Everett.
Carl’s family and friends will miss him dearly. But they are comforted by their faith and recollections of fun times together. His memory will live on in the hearts of many.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Rev. Brian Roehrborn will officiate.
