Carol A. Thompson's Obituary
Carol Thompson, age 97, passed peacefully with family at her side on March 24, 2025, at Rosemore Village in Wild Rose, Wisconsin. She was born on March 3, 1928, in New London, Wisconsin, the daughter of Basil and Marietta (Jones) Stewart.
Carol was the salutatorian of her Wild Rose High School class of 1945 and was accepted at the University of Wisconsin. Then Carol met the love of her life, Gerald Thompson, and spoke fondly of him as “The best looking and nicest man I had ever met.” They were married a year later and settled on the farm in Mt. Morris. Carol and Jerry were married for forty-nine years.
She was very active in the Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church, volunteered as a beloved Sunday School teacher for many years, served in Ladies Aid, and worked for twenty years at the Wild Rose Clinic. Her dear friendships there lasted well into her retirement. Carol’s greatest joy came from her family, her friends, and her flower gardens.
Carol is survived by her children, Ronald (Kate Kingston) Thompson of Trinidad, Colorado; Peggy Thiel (Mark Stratton) of Wautoma, Wisconsin; grandchildren Jessica (Josh) Shores of Rogers, Arkansas; Dr. Rebeka (Shawn) Arehart of Genoa, Wisconsin; Ronald (Leah) Thompson of Anchorage, Alaska; Adam (Robin) Thiel of Appleton, Wisconsin; Matthew Thiel of Appleton, Wisconsin; great grandchildren Titus, Grant, and Walt Shores; Summer, Sierra, and Audrey Arehart; and Gabrielle Carol and Addison Thiel. She is further survived by nieces Jodi Stewart Rohrer and Judy Thompson Marks, and nephews Scott Stewart and Stephen Thompson.
