Charles "Chic" A. Patterson's Obituary
Charles (Chic) Alan Patterson, 94, passed away November 1, 2024, at Bethany Home in
Waupaca, WI. Chic was born in Richland Center, WI on February 25, 1930, the son of Curtis
and Eva (Roudebush) Patterson. He grew up in Lake Delton, WI and graduated from
Wisconsin Dells High School in 1948. Chic married Joan Ruth Charlesworth on October 30,
1950, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Chic and Joan lived in Lake
Delton; Franklin, IN; and Manhattan, KS while he served in the US Army during the Korean War.
After discharge, they lived in Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Stevens Point, WI; and Waupaca. Chic
graduated from Wisconsin State University - Stevens Point (now University of Wisconsin -
Stevens Point) in 1967, while working in Supper Clubs in Wisconsin Rapids. He was a social
worker employed by Portage County and Waupaca County Human Services prior to retirement
in 1994. Chic’s first love and commitment was to his family and friends, but golf was a close
second. His greatest achievements were a Hole-in-one and winning the Men’s Championship,
along with his partner, when he was 70 years old at Glacier Wood Golf Club, Iola, WI.
Chic is survived by his children: Greg and Bernadine Patterson (Cookson, OK), The Rev. Vicki
and David Natzke (Amherst, WI), Geofrey and Jill Patterson (The Villages, FL), and Jody and
Gary Graham (Waupaca, WI). Grandchildren: Ryne (Phoebe) Natzke, Ty (Emily) Natzke,
Jackson (Katie Koepke) Graham, and Shelby (Josh) Graham Harlander. Great-grandchildren:
Adler Natzke, Louisa Natzke, and Mabel Natzke, and many nieces and nephews. He is also
survived by an “honorary daughter” Sandy (Dan) Gallow, whom he loved as one of his own.
Chic is preceded in death by his loving wife Joan; his parents; sisters Betty Lou Hagen and
Donna Kay Greenwood and brother-in-law Jack; brothers James, Richard and sister-in-law
Daisy, and John Patterson; sister-in-law Judy Morse; parents-in-law George (Jud) and Ethel
(Ihde) Charlesworth; granddaughter Carolyn Suchy; and grandson Charles E. Patterson.
A celebration of life for Chic and Joan will be held at The Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca
on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11 am. Visitation will start at 10 am. Interment will be at the
Wisconsin Veterans Home at King Memorial Cemetery. Please honor Chic’s memory by
considering donating to Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin (bbbsecw.org) or an
organization of your choice in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to express a sincere “thank
you” to the staff at Bethany Home and Thedacare at Home Hospice for their loving care and
compassion. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
