Chester was born in Stevens Point, WI on March 5, 1943 to Joseph and Lucille (Zimbauer) Ligman. After graduating high school from P.J. Jacobs, Chet served in the United States Army as an Automotive Technician. While serving in the military, Chester was activated for the Berlin Crisis of 1961 and the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Not long after returning to Wisconsin, Chet met his future wife to be Eleanor Dambroski. They were joined in marriage at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst on April 18, 1964. Chet spent most of his life doing what he loved the most, driving truck. As an independent trucker, Chet’s love of Peterbilt trucks took him out on the open road for most of his life. His love of trucking was passed on to his sons, who chose to follow in the same profession. Chet was also an avid deer and turkey hunter and enjoyed his time spent with family and friends at the “Shabin.” He had many hobbies of which he was passionate about such as collecting John Deere tractors, going to demolition derbies, tractor pulls, and driving in local parades. Being a gearhead, Chester loved Nascar and attending the local races with his sons and grandchildren.
Chet is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor; three sons, Scott (Kandace) Ligman, Jeff (Lisa) Ligman, and Brian (Cheryl) Ligman; three brothers, Robert (Terry) Ligman, Irwin (Dorothy) Ligman, and Ray (Catherine) Ligman; six grandchildren, Jason, Robert, Emalie, Sophia, Olivia, and Joey Ligman; many nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.
