Muffy Harrington always made me laugh. Once in 8th grade, our teacher had to separate us in the middle of class because we were laughing too much one day. Another time in high school, Muffy was performing a piano solo in solo and ensemble and she asked me to turn the pages for her. She was a little nervous during the performance and ended up playing the introduction three times instead of two. Afterwards she laughed and laughed and couldn’t believe she did that, and wrote this in my yearbook that year: “Next time you turn pages for me at solo and ensemble, please make sure I don’t play the introduction 30,000 times. Thanks.” It will always make me smile. I will cherish my memories of high school band with her forever. She really did have such a great way about making people feel at ease and happy. I will always try and honor her by living with a happy heart.
My heart is broken for Muffy’s family. The celebration of her life was so deeply touching. In particular, I will always remember the story about Muffy asking her mom “How do you get to heaven, anyways?”, followed by her accepting salvation and wanting to pray with her doggo too. Such a sweet story. Remembering Muffy is bringing me closer to Jesus. I will carry the memory of her with me the rest of my life.
Muffy, thank you. You will be so missed and forever cherished.
