Claire J. Turner's Obituary
Claire J. Turner, age 91, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Sunday, March 29th, 2009 at Crystal River Nursing Home in Waupaca. He was born in the Town of Belmont, Portage County, WI on July 28, 1917, the son of Fred DeAlbert and Florence (Bucknell) Turner. Claire graduated from Almond High School in 1935. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force. Claire married Marjorie Hartsworm on July 18, 1945 in Waupaca. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2002. He worked at the Waukesha Foundry starting in 1941 and retiring in 1981. Claire enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, gardening, and fishing. He enjoyed the time he spent camping with the family when the children were young. His favorite vacation was with Marjorie when they spent two weeks in Hawaii. Claire also treasured the time spent with his grandchildren He is survived by a son: Ronald (Mary) Turner, Mukwonago, WI; daugher-in-law: Karen Turner, Almond, WI; grandchildren: Beth Turner, LaCrosse, WI; Kyle Turner, Almond, WI; brother: Merle (Adora) Turner, Almond, WI. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; a son, Timothy Turner; 3 sisters, Marie Harvey, Leah Wenzel and Doris Ryan; and a brother, John Turner. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Parfreyville United Methodist Church in Waupaca, with Reverend Joan Frost officiating. Interment will be in Barton Cemetery in the Town Farmington. A visitation will be heldThursday at the church from 10AM until the time of the service. The family would like to thank Crystal River Nursing Home for being Claire's second family and taking such good care of him. The Holly Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
