Clifford R. Burns
King, WI (Formerly of Hortonville, WI) Age 85 – died on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI. He was born on March 9, 1924 in the Twp. Of Hortonia, Outagamie County, WI, the son of Robert and Lenore (Thern) Burns. Clifford is survived by three sisters; Arlouine Kringel of Hortonville, Audrey Granger-Hanson (Norman) of Nekoosa, and Marjorie Panzenhagen of Waupaca. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers-in-law; Melvin Kringel, Floyd Granger, and Gerald Panzenhagen. Clifford was a graduate of Hortonville High School. Following graduation Clifford bought and operated Burns Bakery in Hortonville. He and his family operated the bakery from 1942 until it closed in 1969. Clifford had also been a sales representative for the Twin City Monument Company for about 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from March of 1943 until he was honorably discharged in January of 1946. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 1:30 PM at the Wisconsin Veterans Home – Main Chapel at King, WI, with Chaplain Wayne Schwanke, officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Union Cemetery in Hortonville. A memorial visitation will be held at the Main Chapel at King on Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the charity of your choice in memory of Clifford Burns. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. The family of Clifford Burns would like to thank the staff of the Wisconsin Veterans Home, especially the staff of MacArthur Hall 3rd floor, for the care and kindness extended to Clifford.
