David Borchardt's Obituary
David K. Borchardt, 70, of Amherst passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. He was born Nov. 18, 1934, in the Town of Wien, Marathon County, to the late Harold and Eva (Kurth) Borchardt. A 1952 graduate of Edgar High School, he attended Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, and graduated from Wisconsin State College, Stevens Point, in 1957. He was married on March 29, 1958, to Rosalie J. Soik at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stevens Point. After teaching fifth grade at Howe School, Wisconsin Rapids, for two years, he worked for 35 years in banking, for Citizens National Bank, Marine Bank, and Bank One. His positions included Auditor, Assistant Cashier, Loan Officer, and Assistant Vice President. He retired in 1994 as Vice President of Bank One, Stevens Point.
An avid birder, he was a founding member of the Aldo Leopold Audubon Society. He was also a member of Tomorrow River Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie, daughters Rebecca (Jeffrey) Stubbe of Wausau; Sarah (Sean) Casey of Amherst; Martha (Mark Rich) Borchardt of Stevens Point; and grandchildren Devlin, Gwendolyn, and Rafferty Casey, of Amherst; and Bradley Stubbe, of Wausau.
He is also survived by brothers Paul (Diane) Borchardt of Spencer, and Tim (Mindy) Borchardt of Stevens Point; and sister Faye Weiner of Eau Claire. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lowell and Charles; and son Harold (Buzz) Borchardt. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at Peace Lutheran Church, Amherst, preceded by a visitation at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Sunday School, Amherst. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
