Delbert D. EKenstedt Jr's Obituary
Delbert D. EKenstedt, Jr, age 71, of Cumberland, WI passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI after suffering many years from lung issues from agent orange. Delbert was born in Cumberland, WI on January 12, 1946, the son of the late Delbert and Elaine (Cimfl) Ekenstedt. After graduating from Cumberland High School he joined the military and first served in the Navy where he was a Navy Seabee. He loved the military and served in many branches over the years including Navy, Air Force, Army and National Guards. He was in the Vietnam War during 1966-1968. Delbert retired from the military after serving 30 years. He also attended college and drove truck for Monson's before retiring. Delbert loved traveling and some of his travels were to reunions to see his military friends. He was a life member of the VFW in Almena and Rice Lake. He enjoyed hunting and driving hot cars. Loved discussing politics, military and religion. He loved journaling and was an avid reader of religious books and military history. He was very active member of the Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. Delbert is survived by his brothers; John Ekenstedt, Florida; Dan (Kay) Ekenstedt, Mankato, MN and Don (Sandy) EKenstedt, Barron, WI and his sister: Linda (Larry) Sharp, Rice Lake, WI. Also surviving are many nieces & nephews. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Sr & Elaine. A memorial visitation will be held at a later date with a Military Graveside Service at Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin. Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
