Dewey L. Neidy's Obituary
Dewey Lee Neidy, born in Deercreek, OK on January 4, 1922, passed away Friday, August 29,
2014 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Dewey is survived by his wonderful wife of
69 years, Vera Lorraine Neidy; daughter Nancy (Jerry) Weinstock of Maple Grove, MN; son
Mike Hohensee of Richland Center, WI; son Gary Neidy of Antigo, WI; granddaughter Jennifer
(Michael) Coté of Maple Grove, MN; great granddaughter Katherine Weinstock of Maple Grove,
MN; sisters Wynona Cave and Reeta Ellison of Bakersfield, CA; best friend Joe (Lois) Sabaloni
of Bakersfield, CA; and several cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his
parents, Dewey and Mildreth Neidy; infant son Bruce; twin sister Leora Coulson-Starr.
Dewey served his country from January 1944 to January 1950, attaining the rank of 1st Lt, USAF
with service as a P-51 pilot in England from Aug 1944 to May 1945. Dewey was awarded
membership to the Caterpillar Club for surviving an emergency parachute jump in March 1947
from a P-47 that suffered a mechanical failure. He also served in Korea from October 1951 to
September 1953.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 3rd in the Olson Hall Chapel on the grounds of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Visitation will be held from 10:00 -11:00
AM prior to the service at the chapel. Interment following the funeral service will be in the Central WI Memorial Cemetery, across the street (County Road QQ) from the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
