Diane M. Cichy's Obituary
Diane Marie Cichy, age 71, of Waupaca, formally of Wisconsin Rapids and Necedah passed into eternal life peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Carl Edward and Edith K. Hanson Jr. (Kjeldsen). Diane was a Necedah High School graduate in 1971.
Diane spent her early adult years raising her three sons and working for Devil’s Lake State Park and for the Department of Transportation. Her sons provided her the love and joys of her life, her grandchildren. She is fondly remembered for the fun games she imagined to play with them, frog hunting with butterfly nets, hula hoop trees, sharp shooting Granny, the books she provided for them pending a phone call to discuss the story when completed, treats, the pies she loved to bake with her friends Marie and Sara (iykyk), birthday cakes and pinatas and of course many arts and crafts. Diane was a talented artist painting on multiple mediums and recently creating broken glass mosaics. She loved spending time with her family, cherishing their annual camping trip and holiday gatherings.
Diane was a friend to many and touched numerous lives. She was known for her patience and relationships, her kindness and caring. She put others before herself. Diane loved being in nature and frequented multiple state parks. She enjoyed learning about and working with flowers and plants. She looked at peace watching the water and considered the Yellow River her home. She truly embraced the meaning of “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain”.
She will be deeply missed and is survived by her loving family; children: Daniel (Kendra) Cichy, Jason Cichy (Emilia Webb), John Cichy, grand-children: Debra, Jessicah, Jason, Cody, Anora, Becca, David, Ruth, McKenna, Lily and Danny, Great-Grandson Landon, Siblings: Edward Hanson, Kathy Waltemath, Karen Ravenscroft (Ben Weidling), David (Lori) Hanson, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Edith Hanson Jr.
A celebration of life will be held at Necedah Veteran’s Hall on Saturday, January 11th @ 3pm. Join us for coffee, pastries, stories and memories.
