Diane R. Sonnenberg's Obituary
Diane R. Sonnenberg, age 74, of Pine River, WI, passed away on Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh, WI with her loving husband at her side. She was born in Mt. Calvary, WI on February 26, 1944, a daughter of the late Leo and Angeline (Rieder) Schmitt.
Diane married Joel Sonnenberg on November 5, 1976 in Fond du Lac, WI. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi,WI.
Diane was a 1962 graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School, Fond du Lac, WI. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant throughout her career. Diane enjoyed her time volunteering for the Altar Guild at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, the Poy Sippi Food Pantry, and the Poy Sippi Community Betterment.
One of Diane's greatest pleasures was walking through the pine forest she and Joel planted together, watching the squirrels & birds living there that never found an empty feeder in her care. All who knew Diane could always count on being greeted with her genuine smile.
Survivors include her Husband: Joel Sonnenberg, Pine River, WI; Son: Terrence (Special Friend: Kimberly Haynes) Gumz, Oshkosh, WI; Siblings: Geraldine (John) Perry, Elm Grove, WI; Joseph (Jean) Schmitt, Fond du Lac, WI; Bernard (Janet) Schmitt, Elkhart Lake, WI; Katy (Brian) Koepke, Fond du Lac, WI; Audrey (Joe) Sesing, Mt. Calvary, WI; Linda (Donald) Whitby, Malone, WI; Pam (Mike) Mand, St. Peter, WI; Sister-in-law: Carol Hankwitz, Fond du Lac, WI; Sister-in-law Marlene Schmitt, Mt. Calvary, WI. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive Diane. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law - Alfred and Lucille Sonnenberg, brothers - Gerald Schmitt and Leo Schmitt Jr., sister - Donna Mae, niece - Robin Lynne Koepke, and nephews - Rodney Schmitt and Brian Michael Mand.
The Funeral Service will be held at First Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi at 12:00 (Noon) on Saturday, March 17th, 2018, with Reverend Carol Christianson, officiating. Entombment will be at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac on Monday, March 19 at 10 AM. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church.
