Donald A. Chapel's Obituary
Donald A. Chapel, 77, of Waupaca, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023. Don was born May 7, 1946, in Milwaukee, WI., to Milo and Martha (Valley) Chapel.
Beloved husband of Pamela M. (nee Schaber-Kraus) married January 8, 1999; loving father of Deanna Skelton, Dustin Chapel and Clinton (Michaela) Chapel; grandpa to Adrianna Chapel, Joselyn Skelton, Bazel Chapel and Koa Chapel; brother of Barbara (Ed) Schroeder and Dale Chapel; brother-in-law of Edith Chapel; stepfather of Jodi (Dan) Luterbach, Beau Kraus and Mark Kraus Jr.; Gumpa to Nolan Krivos, Desirae Kraus and Amelia Luterbach; fond brother-in-law of Edward Jr. (Teresa) Schaber, Richard (Monica) Schaber and Linda (Gerald) Hanson; special brother-in-law of Barb (Joseph) Saiia, Robert (Cindy) Kraus and Scott (Elaine) Kraus; and also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Carol and Sharon, brothers Michael and Randy, stepfather Felix Baier and in-laws Edward Sr. and Mary Schaber.
Don was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union for more than 20 years, working as a meat cutter and meat department manager for numerous grocery stores. His career in the industry spanned more than 40 years.
Don enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time outdoors, and had a passion for American muscle cars. After spending most of his life in the Milwaukee area, he moved to central Wisconsin in 2007 and fell in love with Waupaca and Long Lake.

A Memorial Mass for Don will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, N2845 Shadow Road, Waupaca, WI. Father Xavier Santiago will preside. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church on Wednesday morning. Burial will take place on Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Waupaca. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saxeville-Springwater Fire Departments or Friends of Long Lake. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
