Donald “Don” Dow Lawrence, 86, entered heaven on July 22, 2019 at the Wisconsin VA Home, surrounded by the love of his family. His memorial services will be held on Friday, August 16th, 2019 at 5 pm at the West Granville Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Don was born on May 27, 1933 in Walworth, Wisconsin to Edith Elizabeth and Fred Dow Lawrence. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army Engineer Battalion during the Korean War. Upon his return, he had a successful career as a golf course green’s superintendent. He married Jeanette Marie Pearce on November 16th,1957. They raised two children, Donnette Marie (Lawrence) Tinsley and Wendell Dow Lawrence. Don was heavily involved in the First Congregational Community Church of Roscoe, Illinois as a Deacon and Gathering Music Organist. He loved Jesus and wanted to serve in any way he could.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, his children Donnette and Wendell (Sheila), his grandchildren Elizabeth, Joe, Lisa, Dan (Joanna), Tim (Ashley), Josh (Emily), Sam, Stephen (Christina), Isaac, Andrew, Desiree, and his great-grandchildren Carter and Claire (Joe), Olivia and Jackson (Tim), Christopher and Jacob (Josh), and Judah (Stephen). He was the favorite uncle, grandpa, friend and neighbor to many; everywhere he went he touched the lives of people with his kind smile, hug, or a joke to brighten the day.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2019 at West Granville Presbyterian Church, Milwaukee, WI with pastor Dee M. Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. until time of service at church.Full military honors to follow the memorial Service.Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
