Donald L. Holmes' Obituary
Donald L. Holmes age, 86 of Hartland, WI formerly of Waupaca, WI passed away due to Covid. Donald was born on May 16, 1934, the son of Austin and Rose (Tordeur) Holmes. He married the late Shirley Schroeder on August 8, 1959. Donald Served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 8 years. Donald and his wife were owners of the Waupaca Camping Park for over 40 years, he was a board member of the Wisconsin Campground Owner’s Association, Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce and many other local business associations. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who enjoyed his time at the gym, traveling, spending winters in Florida and helping others.
Donald is survived by his daughters Linda (Mike) Conway of Hartland, WI and Carla (Joe) Guidinger of Nashotah, WI; his grandchildren Michael (Jamie) Conway, Meaghan (Rob) Havenstein, Rachel Guidinger, Jacob Guidinger and Jordan Guidinger; great grandchildren Bria and Lucy Havenstein; one brother Robert Holmes; Special Friend Corlee Serafino, many other family and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Rose Holmes; his wife Shirley Holmes; one daughter Patricia Holmes; one brother Richard Holmes and one sister Edna Hansen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 18, 2020 at 11 A.M. at the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Father Xavier Santiago will officiate with burial to follow at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the mass at 11 A.M. at the church. The Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
