Donald *Paul* Covill's Obituary
Donald Paul Covill, age 75, of Wild Rose, WI passed away Saturday, June 28th, 2008 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah. He was born in Wild Rose, WI on March 19, 1933, the son of Donald and Olive (Backes) Covill. Paul graduated from Berlin High School on June 10, 1951 and commenced Boot Camp at Great Lakes Recruit Training Center on the 15th of June. While serving at Millington Naval Air Station he met and married Mildred Lucille Carroll on September 17, 1955. In 1957 Paul was selected for the NESEP Program and attended Purdue University matriculating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was then commisioned as an Ensign in the Naval Service. During his Naval career, he worked on developing radar systems, missle systems, and by far his favorite working on the F-4 Phantom. His most memorable postings were with squadrons VF-101 and VF-33 while aboard the carrier USS America (CV-66). Upon his retirement from the U.S. Naval Service, he returned to his beloved Little Silver Lake in Wild Rose. Paul then took a job with the state of Wisconsin as an electrical inspector in 1971 and ensured electrically safe building throughout central Wisconsin, retiring from the State in 1992. He was active in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma serving as an usher, lector, and as an Eucharistic Minister. Paul was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and rose to the rank of Navigator. He had some of his greatest fun working at the pancake breakfasts and serving with his fellow Knights. He is survived by Wife: Mildred Covill, Wild Rose, WI; Children: Patrick Covill, Oshkosh, WI; Paula (Derk) Lesniak, Ripon, WI; Peter John (Angela) Covill, Mills River, NC; Phillip James (Sharniece) Covill, Mequon, WI; Lori (David) Hoetker, Louisville, KY; Will (Lisa) Covill, Pensacola, FL; Grandchildren: Daine & Alison Lesniak; Dylan & Quade Covill; Olivia & Jonathan Covill; James & Nicholas Hoetker; Timothy & Lilly Covill. Brother: Dennis (Barbara) Covill, Ohio; Sisters: Ann Trimboli, Milwaukee, WI; Mary Lou (Adair) Knapwurst, Wild Rose, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wautoma, with Rev. Robert L. Stegmann officiating. Interment of cremains will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Wautoma. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 PM until 8 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose with a Rosary and Prayer service to be held at 7 PM. A visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
