Donovan Weis' Obituary
Donovan C. Weis, age 79, of rural Almond, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 5th, 2006. Don was born in Milwaukee, WI on October 13, 1926, the son of Carl and Madeline (Perschbacher) Weis. While growing up he lived in the communites of Ripon, Eureka and rural Berlin, WI where he worked on the family farm and on thrashing crews around the area. After serving in the Army during W. W. II, Don drove for an ambulance service in Milwaukee, and delivered laundry in Central Wisconsin. He married Janet Meverden in the Berlin United Methodist Church on November 11, 1950. After their marriage he worked as a fur-processor, milkman and driver for Berlin Rendering company until 1960 when he moved to New Berlin to work as an Assistant Maintenance Supervisor at Methodist Manor Health Care Center in West Allis. In 1966 he took over the job of Maintenance Engineer, a job he enjoyed until his retirement in 1990. In 1991 he moved to rural Almond where he lived with his wife, Janet, until her death on October 2, 1994. Don was active in the Wild Rose United Methodist Church and served as a caregiver to an elderly friend for a number of years. Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his children and their children dearly, and was proud of each of them. During his last years, he faced multiple health challenges, as he faced much of his life, with faith and humor. Both helped him to come to the end of his life with peace, accepting Christ's promise of eternity as his own. Thank you for all you did, and the example you set for all of us. We love you and will see you again real soon! Don is survived by his children: Dennis (Nola) Weis, Pardeeville, WI; Thomas Weis, Omaha, NE; Paul (Michele) Weis, Helenville, WI; Katharine Weis, Almond, WI; Ruth Ann Leard, Almond, WI; Judy (Brian) Overling, Moore, OK; his grandchildren: Matthew, Carrie and Sara Weis; Ehrich, Isaiah and Cecilia Weis; Karl Leard; Jeremy and Jacob Overling; Daniel and Melissa Weis; his brothers: James (Lois) Weis, Stevens Point, WI; Carlton (Joy) Weis, Garland, TX; his sister: Janet (Keith) Russell, Fond du Lac, WI; and his sister-in-law: Mary Weis. The Memorial Service will be at Wild Rose United Methodist Church at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 8th, with Pastor James Rivers officiating. The Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday 10-11 AM at the church. Holly Funeral Home, Wild Rose, assisted the family with arrangements.
