Dorothy Christensen's Obituary
On October 8, 2008, Dorothy Jane (Swan) Christensen went to be with her Lord & Savior. She joined her husband, Arthur C. Christensen and her two sons, Arthur Charles & Warren James Christensen who preceded her in death. She was 88 years old. Dorothy was born in Portage County, Town of Lanark at the family homestead on December 10, l9l9. Her parents were Elsie Anna Yost Swan and James Alexander Swan. She was one of 7 children. In 1943, she married Arthur Christian Christensen and they lived on the homestead until 1981. She then moved with her husband to 806 Harding Street in Waupaca and lived there for 19 years. After the passing of her husband in 1996, her family helped her move in 2000 to Bethany Pines Assisted Living in Waupaca where she lived for 6 years. After several years of dealing with health issues, it was decided that Dorothy would go to Colorado to live with her daughter, Pat. She was quite proud of the fact that for 86 years she had lived within 10 miles of where she was born. Dorothy was a homemaker, but worked at Woody’s Cheese for many years before retiring. She loved to have guests for meals and was always thrilled to have people just stop in stay overnight, especially missionaries & special speakers from her church. She taught Sunday School, served in the church nursery for over 20 years and on many committees there. Her biggest passion in life was serving; first the Lord & then people. She did not know a stranger. Dorothy is survived by her 3 daughters:

Sisters-in-law: Nedra (Mrs. Wm) Christensen, and Marian (Mrs. Ed) Christensen, Mrs. Lorraine (Arthur) Krenn.
