Dorothy G. Duncan's Obituary
Dorothy Grace Duncan, age 93, of Riverview, FL passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Life Path Hospice House in Ruskin, FL. Dorothy was born in Berlin, WI on December 8, 1920, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Pagel) Werch. After graduating Berlin HS in 1939, she attended one year at Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee, WI. During WW II she signed on as a WAVE for the military and participated in volunteer work at the local hospital helping with veterans of the war, and later worked full time doing "war work" in Milwaukee. She later moved to Adrian, MI where she met and married Grady E. Duncan Sr. on November 27, 1958. She worked for over 32 years as executive secretary for the Herrick's who founded the Tecumseh Products Co. After retiring, she moved to Florida in 1989 and worked at Beall's Department Store for 17 years. She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church Adrian, MI & Centerpoint Church Valrico, FL. She loved her family, gardening and playing piano.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Janice Dorrisey, Adrian, MI; Linda (Donald) Behm, Onsted, MI; Edward (Shelly) Duncan, Adrian, MI; Robert (Linda) Duncan, Adrian, MI and Karen (Steve) Akel, Riverview, FL. her 13 grandchildren and over 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Elsbeth Werch and 2 brothers, Melvin & Howard Werch.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 9 at 11 AM at Victory Church in Waupaca, WI with Pastor Philip Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Nepeuskun Cemetery, Berlin, Wisconsin. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 9 AM until 11 AM at the church. Donations to Victory Church in lieu of flowers. Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
