DOUGLAS D. CLAPPES
OGDENSBURG, WISCONSIN Age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. He was born May 8, 1931 in Waupaca, WI; son of Henry Homer and Carrie Jane (Krinkey) Clappes. Doug served in the U.S. Army from August 28, 1952 – August 11, 1954 during the Korean War. On Christmas Day, December 25, 1954, Doug married Lorraine Nielsen at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church in Iola, WI. Doug worked for the Waupaca County Highway Department for 10 years before becoming a dairy farmer. He was a volunteer fireman for the Ogdensburg / St. Lawrence Fire Department for 40 years, and was the fire warden for the WI Department of Natural Resources for 39 years. Doug was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was a member of Scandinavia Lutheran Church in Scandinavia, WI. Doug is survived by:

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Carrie Jane Clappes; his daughter, Cynthia Larson; a brother, Homer Clappes; an infant brother, David Clappes; sister-in-law, Rhona Clappes; and a niece, Sally Clappes. A Funeral Service will be on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Scandinavia Lutheran Church in Scandinavia, WI. Reverend Mark E. Sabin will officiate. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Park in the spring.
