I don’t have one particular memory I want to share about Doug. But he was my son-in-law and I loved him dearly. Through the years we grew very close and our relationship, I believe, was precious to both of us. Doug and I could literally talk about anything.
He was a wonderful young man, loved his family as much as anybody I’ve ever known, and he faced these last ‘very trying’ eight years with a tremendous measure of grace and peace…. the Peace of God, which passes our understanding. Through the years, as I would help the family out with babysitting, with transportation to school and to doctors’ appointments, etc., he was ALWAYS so polite and genuinely thankful for the help. He never failed to say thank you for anything that someone did for him. That’s a very special attribute that not everyone cares about or practices. Doug also had a great sense of humor, and we shared many laughs along the way these last 24 years that he was in our lives. I will miss him so much now. But I’m very thankful that he is with Jesus and not here suffering in any measure at all. Hallelujah!!
Truly, he is free! “Thank You, Lord Jesus.”
